Hello and welcome to my wee corner of the internet, "Don't Eat That Cookie!" I'm so glad you decided to stop by.
As you may have noticed from the header, this blog is a bit of catch-all for my thoughts and life events. I started the blog as a tool to help keep me focused on the un-ending endeavor to get in shape, thus the blog title. If you archive your way back to those first posts you'll find all the gruesome stats. Right now I am 16 weeks postpartum and very much wish I was back to those starting stats of 2007 (wow, just realized my blog is 3.5 years old!).
Ah well, back to today. I'm Michelle Dabrowski. My friends call me, "Shelli." I am 31 years old. I've been married to my super, awesome, fantastic, supportive, adoring, clever, geeky husband, Josh, for (soon to be) 6 years. We welcomed our first child, Jacek, into the world in September of 2010. My world revolves around these two wonderful men. As new parents you'll likely see quite a few baby posts for awhile.
Here we all are!
I am also a Registered Nurse working at a local hospital (LH). I've been a nurse for about 3.5 years. I started out working with children in their homes, then got a job at LH on a floor focused on women's and children's health. I was really hoping this would lead to a transition into labor and delivery. Sadly, there were layoffs and I was "bumped" off my floor. Now I work on the LH's locked psychiatric ward. To put it mildly, it's not a very good fit for me. Fortunately, I have amazing co-workers who make the job enjoyable. Also, I work the overnight shift 11pm - 7am, so most of the patients are sleeping. I don't blog about work much. I'd hate to be "dooced." Also, there's so much law regarding patient privacy, that even without mentioning any identifiers (name, age, etc) I'm still legally bound to not speak of them. So, almost no work blogging for me.
I suppose you may want to know a bit of my personal philosophies. I'm a Christian, but I'm not very good at it. My political views most align with libertarianism (with the exception of their foreign policy). I generally avoid blogging political. I think radical feminists are bonkers; I appreciate being able to vote, and work if I choose, but I hate that it's so much harder for women to stay home to raise their children and care for their husbands. I think daycare is generally a bad idea and we'll be doing everything we can to keep Jace out of it. We're practicing Attachment Parenting. We cloth diaper, breastfeed, use homeopathic medicine and recycle, but we do that for health and economic reasons, not environmental.
I try to keep the tone of this blog positive. To totally butcher a parable I read somewhere, there are two wolves fighting in each of us. One is angry, the other happy. The one who wins is the one you feed. I try to feed the happy one. So if you read a post indicating my frustration/sadness, chances are good the issue really got to me.
Well this "short" About Me page has become quite long. I thank baby Jacek for snoozin' in his Moby so I could type. I welcome all comments and promise to do a better job of responding!

Thanks again for stopping by!
